Seeking re-election for Woodstock City Council. Building on progress and investing in our future.Over the past four years, I've worked hard to deliver reliable leadership and include residents in the decision-making process. Community engagement is part of my fabric and I have consistently connected with residents through Councillor Corner recaps, in-person meetings, phone calls and emails. I am always eager to hear from you!My commitment has been simple: engage with our community, invest in the services and facilities families rely on, and ensure that our municipality is well-positioned for the future. Being appointed to 6 committees throughout my term as your City Councillor has only diversified my knowledge on what our community requires as we continue to see growth.I will continue to champion investments in recreation facilities, childcare, public transit, downtown activation, support sustainable growth, and make decisions that reflect the priorities of the people who call our community home.

First elected in October of 2022, I am seeking re-election for a second term on Woodstock City Council! I have raised my 4 children here in Woodstock over the past 12 years and heavily participate in all things local! Woodstock is a community that cares deeply and I have witnessed firsthand the pride we all take in our community. With a hospitality background, years of volunteering, I am able to connect with residents and put their ideas and concerns into action. My hobbies include attending community events, heading to the park with my kids, and dining at local establishments.Woodstock is at a pivotal stage where we have seen substantial growth and I would like to continue the hard work of ensuring amenities and services align with our community needs. Oh and fun fact: my favourite colour is green!

What Has Kate Done over 4 years?

A couple of big accomplishments I have worked towards over my term:Child Care Policy - incorporating child care spaces where possible within municipal buildings and future development. Oxford County has the lowest amount of licensed child care spaces in the province and I have consistently advocated for improvements to better support families.Social Well-Being Task Force(Mayor's Task Force) - this committee comprises of what I like to call "boots on the ground". Approximately 20 different agencies and community allies meet to discuss their work and ongoing needs in the community. Through this work, an encampment response core team was created in 2024, seed monies have been granted to agencies implementing programming that focuses on youth and food insecurity. These meetings are not just updates but rather brainstorming and filling gaps where needed.Downtown Investment - The streetscape master plan had been a longstanding discussion in the community. From community input to consultants and drawings, an election topic for many years. This past term, it was time to invest in the plan and Phases 1 and 2 have been completed. The Tri-Star building located next to City Hall was purchased and slated to be demolished to align with future plans for Museum Square. I am proud to have moved a motion to investigate the possibilities of this space rather than tearing it down. Woodstock City Council currently awaits the findings in that report but the building can and should be used for activation and supporting our local economy.Smart Growth and Planning - Often you will hear that municipalities are "creatures of the province," and this is absolutely true. Municipalities and planning staff have seen many changes throughout the last 4 years to Provincial Planning Policies, to the point it can be hard to keep up! With the mandate to build more homes and faster, I have diligently supported planning applications that respect existing neighbourhoods while allowing for more units to be added to the housing continuum. My goal for the future would be to continue and support more density in the core as it is close to transportation and supports efficient land use planning. Lastly, approving planning applications that support job creation in the City of Woodstock and applications that support the future rec facility in North Woodstock!Education and Advocacy - I am by nature a team player and throughout my term I have relied heavily on municipal staff, also known as the experts! I come to meetings prepared and informed. I have crafted motions based on community feedback and from investigating what works well in other municipalities. I have been fortunate to have strong working relationships with councillors across the province. Attending conferences to speak with Provincial ministers to articulate Woodstock's greatest needs and highlight our potential. The biggest "ask" has been to seek support for the much-anticipated North Woodstock Recreation Facility!Appointed to 6 committees:
- Woodstock Accessibility Advisory Committee
- Woodstock Environmental Advisory Committee
- Woodstock Public Library Board
- Woodstock Youth Advisory Committee
- Woodstock BIA
- Mayor's Task Force
